Joker and the Carter

One morning, Joker walked out of town along the highway. When he had walked for a while he saw a wagon coming. The horses ran fast, the carter drove them violently with the whip. He called to Joker, "How far is it to the city? Can I be there by evening? "

"Yes," answered Joker. "If you drive slowly, then you can be in the city in the evening."

The carter thought, "That's a stupid guy! I want to get to the city quickly, so I have to drive fast! "He drove his horses even more with the whip.

In the evening Joker walked back to town on the country road. He met the carter again. The carter stood sadly beside his cart. A wheel was broken. The highway was rocky and bumpy. Joker said: "I told you to drive slowly if you want to come to town by evening!"

The carter thought, "He's not a stupid guy! He gave me good advice."
