The tiger is as / like a large cat. There are many other animals like large cats, but the tiger is the largest and the strongest of all this / these animals.

Tigers live in Africa, India and in some parts of China. The best / The better food for tigers is meat, so they kill other animals and eat them. If a tiger is hungry, it can to kill / kill a man and eat him.

People in China catch tigers with / by a mirror. They put a mirror on a tree, then they make a large hole under / above the tree and put some / a grass over it. The tiger looks into/ behind the mirror and sees another tiger there. It jumps up at this other / another tiger but falls into the hole. Now people come to the hole and kill the tiger.

I want telling / to tell you how a tiger was once killed in India.

Near one / an village in India lived a tiger. It was very big and strong. It killed many / much people in this little village. People did not know what to do. They could not to go / go to the forest or to their fields.

Near this village lived / lives a man. His name was Ossaroo. He was a very strong and clever man. The people of the village went to him and asked for help. “All right,” said Ossaroo, “I shall help / am helping you. Make a big strong cage, get a sheep / sheeps and the skin of a horse.”

When the cage was ready, he asked the people bringing / to bring it to the forest.

Night came. Ossaroo put the sheep into the cage, put / took on the skin of a horse and went into the cage. In his hand he had a long knife.

An hour passed. A second hour passed. Then a third hour. Then he saw two bright yellow eyes in the dark. It was the tiger. The sheep in the cage began / has begun to cry. The tiger heard the sheep. In a moment it was near the cage. It could see the sheep. And there was a horse in the cage, either / too. What a good dinner! But how could it get them? The cage was strong. The tiger tried to get the sheep. But the sheep jumped / was jumping away. The tiger tried again. But the sheep again jumped away. Then the tiger wanted to jump into the cage. It was not / did not know that the cage had a roof. The tiger jumped and fell / fall on the roof.

Ossaroo quickly pushed his knife into the tiger. He worked with /by his knife very quickly. Soon the animal was died / dead. The people of the village could walk to the forest and to their fields.
