The given diagrams depict the processes of the production of construction materials: concrete (in the right picture) and cement (on the left) that is one of the main ingredients used in the concrete-making. In order to produce each material, the specific types of equipment and the certain sequences of operations are utilized.

In the first stage of the production of cement, two constituents – limestone and clay – are ground in a crusher into a powder, and then mixed well in a mixer. After that, the compound is sent through a pipe to a rotating heater. There are mixture undergoes the high temperatures by means of a heat source from the bottom end of the heater. Thus the obtained substance – clinker – is ground in a grinder into the end product of the process – cement, which is packed in bags.

Cement can be used, in particular, for producing concrete. The technology of concrete manufacture is the mixing of constituents in the needed proportion. It consists mainly of gravel (small stones) – 50%, sand (25%), cement (15%) and water (10%). Dry ingredients are poured into a concrete mixer (which is rotating constantly), then water is added and all the constituents are mixed together. The output is a mixture – concrete.
