The pie charts illustrate the percentage of spending money for different purposes by a certain UK school over 3 periods of time – 1981, 1991 and 2001.

In general, in all 3 years, the biggest proportion of money was spent on teachers` salaries (40% and more) and on other workers` salaries. However, with every passed period of time the amount of money, which was contributed to worker wages, was gradually decreased (from 28% in 1981 to 15% in 2001).

Spending on resources (books) was unstable – after 15% in 1981, charges rose to 20% in 1991, but then dropped to 9% in 2001. The opposite pattern can be seen with expenditure on furniture and equipment: firstly, in 1991 it fell by one-third compared to 1981 (5% and 15% respectively), then significantly went up in 2001 (23%).

Finally, the costs of insurance showed the growing trend – from 2% in 1981 to 8% in 2001.

Overall, during the presented period of time, while spending on teachers` salaries remained constantly predominating, spending on the other purposes wasn`t stable.
