Mother’s Day is the world famous holiday.

On this day we honor motherhood.

People observe this holiday in different forms throughout the world .

Anna Jarvis set up a holiday of Mother’s Day in America in 1908 .

It became an official U.S. holiday in 1914.

Jarvis did not like the idea of the holiday’s commercialization.

She later tried to remove it from the calendar.

Mother’s Day falls on the second Sunday in May.

All people present their mothers with flowers.

Even ancient Greeks and Romans had such festivals.

They honored mother goddesses Rhea and Cybele

The early Christian festival is known as "Mothering Sunday”.

Children presented their mothers with flowers and other gifts.

Traditions depend on the country.

In Thailand Mother’s Day is always celebrated in August on the birthday of the queen.

In Ethiopia families gather together and each falls to sing songs and eat a large feast

Many people in Ukraine show their love and appreciation for their mothers or mother-figures on the second Sunday in May.
