Do not judge by appearances; a rich heart may be under a poor coat. Don't judge a book by its cover. Appearances are deceptive. All is not gold that glitters. We have heard these proverbs hundreds of times, but still when we meet someone, we always make a judgment based on his or her appearance. So, why is appearance important? Is it more important than the human inner world? Why do the employers look for the workers with a pleasant outlook first, and only then they mention the professional skills.

Preparing for a date or for a job interview, going to the theatre or to some official ceremony, you should take into consideration your outlook. Remember: it takes just a few seconds for someone to evaluate you. In this short time, the other person forms an opinion about you based on your appearance, your body language, your demeanour, and how you are dressed. To make a good first impression you shouldn’t also forget about make-up. Use the accessories. Modest chainand fine earrings will show your elegant taste. Massive and glittering adornments will help to understand that you are a confident person. A leather belt or an expensive watch for men and a leather shoulder bag or high heels for women will complete your image of a successful person. Both clothes, make-up and accessories should correspond to the occasion that you visit.Your clothes can also tell much about your personality. Avoid looking too faddish. At work people must show that they are reliable workers, and not flighty ones. On the other hand, on the informal meetings with friends or in a college or university setting, you may wear fashionable clothes that make you look “cool”. Wear the clothes that fit to your figure type, and choose the colours that suit you. Combine your clothes wisely.Be neat. Iron your clothes. Shine your shoes. Clean and trim your fingernails. Check your make-up. Brush your teeth. Make an up-to-date hairstyle.

Beauty is a relative thing, of course. Nevertheless, everyone can look charming thank to the right combination of clothes and accessories, make-up and hairdo. Moreover, you can highlight your appearance with your good features of character, because beauty is nothing, if your soul is empty.

One more clue to success is a smile. “Smile and the world smiles to you too”, because smile is a gun that can help you to conquer the world and to create a good first impression. A warm and confident smile will put both you and the other person at ease. Be yourself and in such a way your weak sides may turn into a great advantage. And remember that A good dress is a card of invitation, a good mind is a letter of recommendation. So, pleasant outlook plus kindly soul plus professional skills is a successful person.
