Level: A2

A king is old. He has not got any daughter or a son. He is a great ruler, but he is very old. He cannot rule anymore. He looks for a clever man, the man who can rule the kingdom after his death. He has got a servant. His servant is very clever. But the servant is very young. The king asks his servant to make the best meal ever.

The servant goes to the market. He buys an ox tongue. He cooks it well and brings it to the great ruler. The king tastes the tongue. He likes the tongue. He has never eaten such a tasty meal. He praises his servant.

The servant is happy. The servant says: "Tongue is the best meal ever. With tongue you can praise good work. With tongue you can thank people. With tongue you can tell good news.’

The king asks his servant to make the worst meal ever. The servant goes to the market. He looks round. He again buys an ox tongue. He takes it home. He cooks it well. He brings it to the ruler.

The great ruler is surprised. "Tongue is the worst meal ever. With tongue you can ruin a man. With tongue you can hurt people. With tongue you can ruin your friendship and love.”

The ruler gives the land into his servant’s hands.
